Recently, The Golf Street Journal visited Tim Miller, President of award-winning Gladstone Custom Homes. He has been a local builder since 1979 and has lived to tell the tale of the economic ups and downs in the building industry for more than thirty years. He agrees with GSJ that there is a growing pent up demand for the mid to upper quality home, even in this changing economy.
Gladstone Homes is comprised of many talented contractors and suppliers who have worked with Mr. Miller for many years. He personally oversees the building process and visits the jobsite daily. Tim and his team are particularly well-known for fashionable designs distinguished by flowing, functional floor plans. His company has built homes in many of the golf course communities around the Denver area such as Plum Creek, The Pinery, The Timbers, Pradera, Meadow Hills and Bear Creek.
According to Mr. Miller, “Today’s real estate industry has two marketplaces. The main marketplace has all the current homes for sale, new and used, and deals abound whether they are short sales, foreclosures or just straight good deals. The second market is for those who can’t find “The Home” in the existing inventory and decide to have a new home built. We have been very blessed to have buyers seek us out to build their specific home”.
Gladstone clients range from young and middle age successful over achievers to retired or almost retired couples that have children and grandchildren close by. The retiree’s often want a ranch style home with a finished basement while the younger families are open to many variations of homes. Many of Mr. Miller’s individually designed homes are upgrades from his clients’ current homes; surprisingly they are larger, on acreage properties, and have nicer finishes inside and outside of the home.
Miller explains, “Clients want to be part of the building process, so homes are designed right here in our office. They may have their own plan, but it might be missing something or it’s not quite right, so I redraw them with our homebuilding software. We then sit down together and fine tune the plan. Other clients request an original design, which I create and again, we review together and refine if necessary to meet their needs and desires.”
Finally, some clients select one of Millers existing designs, which can be one of the most economical choices in building a custom home. Visit Tim Miller and Gladstone Custom Homes at www.gladstonehomes.net.
